I had a long weekend so I've decided to get back on track with my personal drawing and illustration...when was my last entry again?...Aug last year. That's pathetic. Ridiculous.

My apologies for not been updating this site. I'm pretty occupied with shit loads of stuffs back at work that I hardly have anytime for myself.

I can't really remember what's the rationale behind the concept of "Wolves Among Men" – something to do with perverting the truth and use any and all means to lead people astray yada yada yada but I came out with the sketch above and there's another one yet to be done.

"Hungry? Go Fast Lah..." is an exhibition held at Port Tumasik which runs parallel with the ongoing hungry ghost festival and it's activities, particularly the ritualistic auctions that takes place during the season.

The concept of auctions adapted to takeoff contemporary art auctions provides irony and humour, and at the same time, a mild eeriness and bone-chilling experience.

The job is to do some illustration for a hardcore punk band EP, along with some band merchandise. The band, Vermillion, have this concept of "The Red Army" so I came out with something that have the revolutionary and propagandistic-style of design, inspired by Shepard Fairey style of illustration.

It's been 2 years since and I've yet to receive the EP. I'll go chase for it and will shoot some images. More updates soon.

Inspired by the popular design "I Went To ____ And All I Got Was This Lousy T-shirt", I've decided to produce a design based on the issue of a maid who is carrying a field bag that belongs to a NSF (a "man" who is undergoing National Service).

Well-received by friends so far, the idea will be expanded into a series - "I Am Maid For The Army". The series will include badges and few other t-shirt design and illustrations.

Noise Singapore 2006 Entry

A non-commissioned work which was produced way back in 2006. The illustration was sent to Noise Singapore and made it into the brochure showcasing all the submitted work by local talents.

I didn't follow up and send any artworks for the subsequent years of Noise Singapore - got lazy and uninspired. This particular artwork is about self-identity; creating an alter-ego like how Hal Jordan is to Green Lantern or Bruce Wayne to Batman. Don't fancy that kind of thing right now. I'll just use my real name now rather than an "artist name" or "aka" cause it's unnecessary.

As promised, image of HoMA first series during the Noise-Bearfruit Illustration Showcase at NLB which runs from 26 February till 27 March 2011. Thanks to all who managed to come down and see the exhibition. Your honest comments are greatly appreciated.

I'm currently working on the second series which for sure gonna be much bigger than its predecessor. There will be a total of 13 life-sized paintings, an action figure and also an interactive pop-up book which showcases all the sketches and processes of the HoMA series.

It's gonna be tough and it's a long road ahead. With hard work and determination, HoMA - Hantu of Malay Archipelago gonna be my first and most biggest successful exhibition ever.

HoMA - Hantu of Malay Archipelago

Spirits exist…but in this contemporary stage where the phenomenon lies in the economy which has been successfully evangelizing humans to this neo-religion named ‘Moneytheism’, who is the modern evil ‘spirits’ or ‘hantus’?

The above critical analysis will be further projected in an artistic manner the behavioral traits of characters who represent the paradoxical status of the Modern Hantu. An overarching idea, HoMA will be divisive to three sub-concerns – possibilities of its inter-relations, contradictions or syntheses: Hantu of Malay Archipelago, Hantu of Modern Antagonists and Hantu of Modern Art.

HoMA is an on-going project which will be displayed in Noise-Bearfruit Illustration Showcase at National Library Building from 26 Feb to 27 Mar.

Out of a partnership between Noise Singapore and Bear Fruit Academy, illustrator Wanton Doodle conducted a four-part workshop series in January for youths with an interest in illustration. Known for breathing life into quirky Japanese manga-inspired cartoon characters, Wanton Doodle creates his illustrations on non-conventional canvases such as apparels, vinyl toys and skateboard decks.

Noise-Bearfruit Illustration Showcase will be exhibited at Promenade, Level 7, National Library Building from 26 February to 27 March 2011.

Wow...when was the last time I actually bother to post a new entry?...But hey, here I am...back after two years of hiatus and now, sitting in front of my MacBook...clueless.

I guess it'll be appropriate to "celebrate" my return by informing you (interested) readers on my upcoming exhibition. My creative drive has been severely lacked or rather destroyed for the past few years due to general laziness and busyness (partly laziness) but I've managed to catch few inspirations here and there.
